Hello Maxime! First things first - can you tell us about you?
Hi I’m Maxime, 26 years old, French and located in PriceHubble’s Paris office.
I graduated a few years ago from CentraleSupelec, where I was mainly interested in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, and got an engineering degree in Applied Mathematics to Data Science. During my engineering degree I did a gap year and after having spent 6 months as a Data Scientist in a French consulting firm I joined PriceHubble in January 2018 as a Data Engineer intern.
I really love software engineering and more generally I’m curious about everything related to computer science, like data engineering, data science, cybersecurity .. Outside of work I really like practicing sports like running or football and I’m really passionate about cooking.
What does your life and work at PriceHubble look like?
My journey at PriceHubble has been a bit atypical: I first joined the company as an intern, then again as an apprentice and finally as a full time employee. I worked as a Data Engineer for 3 years and had the chance to play with many topics such as Data pipelines, APIs, Infrastructure. Now I’m leading the Data Acquisition team and work on a daily basis with 5 other engineers all over the world (Germany, Spain, Belarus, Tunisia), but also with many colleagues from the overall PriceHubble’s Data teams for pipelines and models. I interact as well with people from the product / business side (Product Owners, Country Managers etc.). So my position is quite transversal.
My typical day includes programming (happily!), reviewing code, aligning on work in progress, discussing technical challenges, and last but not least, plan the next steps with the team.
What do you like about working here with us?
PriceHubble is a fast growing company and it has been an incredible experience to see the company growing from 15 to almost 100 Hubblers, from 2 countries to more than 7 (with more to come in the near future), and to face the different challenges that you can encounter at the different steps of a startup life and growth.
I like to be in an international company that has offices in Zurich, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Hamburg, Minsk, Vienna or Amsterdam, plus our many colleagues working remotely, and it is a real pleasure to talk and work everyday with people from so many countries.
As a Data Engineer it’s really important for me to work in an environment where data is at the core of the company’s strategy and function, and not just a support role for the business. Data is central at PriceHubble because it feeds our APIs and Models and is the starting blocks of the value chain we provide to our customers.
PriceHubble is an amazing playground for data engineers (more generally for all engineers), first because you always find someone smart to discuss any challenge you face, but also because the technologies that are used are state-of-the-art (Kubernetes, Cloud computing, Spark, Airflow ...), and we do not shy away from migrating away from older stacks (Luigi -> Airflow). We focus on creating high quality software, and tech excellence is always rewarded and encouraged at PriceHubble.
Last but not least, I can’t explain why I like PriceHubble without quickly mentioning the Paris team. People are really nice, we all know each other and we often spend nice moments like drinking beers (on our rooftop), running together during the lunch break, playing football or soccer table.
Why would you recommend people to join you (and us) at PriceHubble?
If you are looking for an amazing startup experience, an international environment where you can work on so many different topics and you want to solve captivating challenges related to data then do not hesitate, PriceHubble will be the place for you!
