Hello, Satham! Before we even get started, could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about you?
Hello PriceHubble! I'm Satham (pronounced as Sadham) coming from the Southern part of India and my mother tongue is Tamil. I grew up in a small town called Peraiyur and hold a bachelor’s degree with distinction in computer science and engineering from Anna university. One fun fact about me is, I am fluent in one of the classical languages ;).
I got a job offer when I was still doing the 4th and final year of my bachelors. And was invited to do an internship at Infosys, Mysore. It was like a dream come true just like many Indians. No exaggeration, think about getting a world class training on professional coding in a 350 acres wonderland. After the successful internship, I then started working on technologies mainly focused on Microsoft Stack for more than 8 years. It gave me the opportunity to live a lot of experiences, learn many skills, and travel to many places in India and abroad (like UK, Germany). This experience gave me a first taste of a multicultural work environment.
On a personal level, I speak a lot and am easy going. I spend most of my time with my family, I study abrahamic religions and speak about them. I enjoy working on personal projects during my free time, like developing softwares for my personal use to make my life easier. I play badminton on my weekends and like to travel a lot, but between Covid-19 and a newly arrived little one at home, it’s sometimes difficult. It’s not the first reason why I joined PriceHubble but yes, one of my dreams is to go to Switzerland!
What is your life and work like at PriceHubble?
Frankly, my job has changed a lot since I joined.
Having to work directly with Mario, our CTO (and my boss) everyday to manage and maintain the IT stack at PriceHubble is such a privilege. Together, we are laying the foundation to build a Quality IT department.
As a Proptech company, we rely on IT Technologies to get our everyday work accomplished. My goal is to make sure that every hubbler is enabled with it. I also create and implement IT policies, rules and regulations to ensure security and compliance of our IT infrastructure.
We use industry best practices and latest tech tools to solve IT problems. When I started I was alone, now I have a new team member who joined the pack. We discuss how to improve on a daily basis and come up with solutions to deliver cost effective and reliable technology services to PriceHubble.
What do you enjoy the most about your work here with us?
The reasons why I came to PriceHubble? I wanted to have a perfect work-life balance. At the same time, I wanted to challenge myself into a tougher role, and to have bigger responsibilities. In large companies, you have big teams to help and support you. But I wanted an end-to-end experience and to work in a startup environment.
Today, I really make the most of the trust my manager is giving me: it’s your playground, you are evaluated on the results, opinions are respected and heard. I work from scratch on basics, bottom-level tasks and at the same time I am involved in high-level decisions. This end-to-end work is new to me, and it really made me further grow as a professional.
The second thing I enjoy the most at PriceHubble is the company culture and human values. I can tell you about a personal experience that really showed me what PriceHubble was about.
Immediately a month after joining PriceHubble, my wife delivered. I didn’t have any days off yet. When I told the HR department, they gave me 5 days for my parental leave in advance. Even though I was still on my probation period and had been for 1 month with the company. I even received a message from the team in Germany in case I needed help with the hospital (because I don’t speak Deutsch) and they regularly checked if everything is ok with me. That’s how people were caring about my personal situation.
Last but not least, in my previous job the work-life balance was difficult to maintain. It’s really a relief for me that at PriceHubble my personal life is respected.
